A law to prevent corporal punishment of children came into effect in Islamabad.
Chief Law Minister Nazir Tarar said that children cannot be taught by beating or force.
Mehnaz Akbar, the promoter of the law, said that teachers who violate can be fined at least 5 thousand rupees and may lose their job at most.
Apart from this, social activist Shahzad Rai said that he started campaigning for the abolition of corporal punishment with Geo News.
Education Minister Rana Tanveer advised the provinces to adopt this law.
