US President Joe Biden arrived on an unannounced visit to Kiev, the capital of Ukraine.
According to the foreign news agency, this is the first visit of the American president to Ukraine after Russia’s attack on Ukraine.
On the occasion of the US President’s visit, aerial bombardment sirens also sounded in Kiev, however, the news agency says that there is no report of Russian missiles or bombing in Kiev.
The US President’s visit has come at a time when Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is about to complete one year.
According to a statement issued by the White House, Biden met with President Volodymyr Zelensky at the Ukrainian presidential palace and assured his support.
According to the White House, President Biden said that when Russia invaded Ukraine a year ago, Putin believed that Ukraine was weak and the West was divided, so we could be destroyed, but he was very wrong.
On this occasion, the US President announced a new military aid package worth 500 million dollars to Ukraine.
Joe Biden said that the new military aid to Ukraine includes light multiple rocket launchers.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said that he had discussed long-range weapons with the US President, adding that Joe Biden’s visit was an important sign of support for the citizens of Ukraine.
