The government of the Netherlands ordered the Russian diplomats to leave the country.
According to a foreign news agency, the government of the Netherlands says that Russian diplomats have been instructed to leave the country in two weeks.
The Dutch Foreign Ministry alleged that Russia was sending a large number of spies to the country for organizations such as the International Criminal Court and Global Chemical Watch.
Dutch Interior Minister Wapka Hoostra said that despite several attempts by the Netherlands to find a solution to the issue, Russia has not stopped sending its spies to the diplomatic cover.
“We cannot allow this to happen, the embassies must remain open, but now it has become very difficult to maintain relations with Russia,” he said.
It has also been alleged by the Netherlands that visas are not being issued to Dutch diplomats appointed by Russia at the embassy and consulate in St. Petersburg, and the Netherlands has decided to open its own embassy in St. Petersburg. The consulate is closing.
On the other hand, the Russian Foreign Office said that it will be answered by Russia, but no immediate reaction was given.
