ISLAMABAD: The government has started the implementation of advance measures under the IMF deal.
The government has started work on ending subsidy on electricity bills as part of talks with the IMF, after which electricity bills will be received with an additional surcharge in March.
Sources say that the additional surcharge in electricity bills received immediately in March will be from 3 rupees 21 paise per unit to 18 rupees. Under the plan, the price of electricity will be reduced to 23 rupees 39 paise per unit by June.
According to the sources, the surcharge on electricity bills will be used to pay the interest on the revolving loan, in the case of quarterly adjustment, more than 300 units of electricity will be collected in February and March bills, while in the case of quarterly adjustment, Rs. The quarterly adjustment tariff will be reduced to 69 paisa in April while this surcharge will increase to Rs 1 64 paisa in June, July.
According to the sources, the fuel adjustment approved in last July, August, 9 rupees 90 paisa and 4 rupees 51 paisa per unit will be collected during the next 6 months, installments of 1 to 1.5 rupees per unit will be collected in 6 months. , these surcharges will be collected in the month of March.
Sources say that yesterday the Economic Coordination Committee approved the abolition of subsidy on electricity bills for farmers.
