The Lahore High Court has imposed a ban on cutting trees in Lahore.
Justice Shahid Karim of Lahore High Court heard the case related to smog remediation. The court directed that the environment department should not issue NOC in future for any project in case of felling of trees.
The court directed to display boards of emergency numbers in case of violation in the traffic rush areas.
The court directed that a law should be made to make cutting trees a crime in the city. The situation regarding smog in Lahore city is already very bad and the situation should not be aggravated by cutting trees.
A report on the services of Chinese experts for smog remediation was submitted to the court on behalf of the caretaker government. The court adjourned further hearing of the case till February 17.
