Senator Cory Booker, a member of the US Senate’s Foreign Relations Committee, has said that the Biden administration should take steps to save Pakistan from bankruptcy.
Senator Cory Booker said in a special conversation with Geonews that Pakistan should be an important ally in the effort to stop terrorism, terrorists are not a threat to any single country but to the whole world.
More aid should be given to Pakistan, especially for the environmental disaster in which it is not at fault
He further said that terrorists act in such a way that they do not threaten a single country, they are a threat to the whole world. If they are strong in one area, they are a greater threat to other areas. America should stop terrorism, Pakistan should be an important ally in this effort, I like it very much when Pakistani Americans come to me and say that we have to find a way to strengthen Pakistan-US relations, it is not only for Pakistan. It is in the interest but also important for the interest and security of the United States. I am very interested in strengthening this relationship.
When he was asked that the economy of Pakistan is not capable of taking action against TTP, don’t you think that Pakistan should be given some force so that Pakistan does not face the situation like what happened to Sri Lanka? That he went bankrupt? Senator Cory Bowker responded: ‘Yes, look, that’s the reality of this region. In this region there is China and Russia. Pakistan is in the middle of a critical neighborhood and we must find ways to build close friendships with Pakistan so that it does not go too far in partnering with countries and nations that do not respect the democratic principles that America values. . That’s why I have been raising my voice that more aid should be given to Pakistan, especially for environmental destruction, in which it is not at fault.
The position of America should always be that it supports the people of Pakistan and not any politician
In response to a question about former Prime Minister Imran Khan, he said, “My view is simple that the people of Pakistan have the right to a vibrant and transparent democracy.” This should always be the position of the US that it should not support any party or politician but the people of Pakistan. We have a strong and deep commitment to democracy in this country, we must help others in this journey.’
He added that it took hundreds of years for America to develop and deepen these democratic values. It was my grandmother’s time when women did not have the right to vote. It was my parents’ time when blacks didn’t have the right to vote. We are constantly looking for ways to make democracy deeper and wider. We should help Pakistan in this journey and cooperate with the extraordinary people of this country. That will be my focus as a debating American leader, a debating member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, and as a senator.
I believe that there is a strong, influential and important community in America, the Pakistani community
Talking about the Muslim community in America, he said, ‘First of all, you have to understand that I believe that there is a strong, influential and important community in America, the Pakistani community. You cannot live in New Jersey without seeing the influence of Pakistanis in medical science, the business world, new businesses and many other professions. More than that, Pakistani culture, faith and food are a big part of my state.’
He said that one of the reasons why I am here is because this amazing organization, APP Pack, is my partner. Let me give you a great example of AP Pack coming to me and saying that there has never been a Muslim Article 3 judge in American history. I was surprised that there has never been a Muslim judge in American history. We worked together to find a number of qualified candidates to recommend a name to President Biden, and the result is that America has a Muslim judge today.
In America we don’t see the kind of proportional representation that should be at the highest levels of government
“I’m not going to speak for any one administration, I’m not satisfied that across America we don’t see the kind of proportional representation that should be at the highest level of government,” the senator added. Let me give you an example, I am only the fourth black person to be elected to the United States Senate. We have yet to see proportional representation, of Asian Americans, of Muslim Americans, of Latinos, not even of women. We are aware that look at Pakistan and other countries where women have reached the highest positions. We now have a woman vice president for the first time but no woman president so far.
Cory Booker said that as far as proportional representation is concerned, we all have to work together not only for Pakistanis but also for other communities. Not to show off, not to brag, we’ve found in Harvard University research that organizations that are diverse are stronger. America is strong because it is diverse. American government will also be stronger when it has more proportional representation.
