Chairman People’s Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has demanded the international institutions and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) not to drown the flood-affected people in inflation.
Addressing the donor conference in Karachi, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that a natural calamity like flood was a doom before doomsday for us. Such a calamity has never happened before in history. One out of every seven Pakistanis was affected by floods in Sindh. I appreciate the efforts of the UN Secretary General.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the success of the government is that we got more than what we asked for from the international organizations, more than three crore people were affected by the flood, crops were destroyed on five lakh acres, 1.5 crores were allocated for the construction of houses in Sindh. Billions of dollars are needed.
The foreign minister said that we got support from international organizations, especially the World Bank, negotiations are going on between our finance minister and the IMF. We hope that the talks with the IMF will be positive. The IMF is responsible for the flood victims. They are putting the burden of inflation on the nation because of the IMF’s statement, the IMF is demanded to ease the conditions with the nation affected by the flood disasters, the international organization and the IMF are demanded that the flood Do not drown people in inflation.
He said that we want targeted relief for flood-affected areas, this relief should be for agriculture, energy and fertilisers, this will be possible when the IMF conditions are relaxed, the challenges faced and solutions to be solved. And we have plans.
