The Turkish President imposed a state of emergency for 3 months in the earthquake-affected areas -HP NEWS

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan imposed a state of emergency for 3 months in the earthquake-affected areas.

Speaking in Ankara, the Turkish President said that there is a difficulty in relief work due to the terrible earthquake.

He announced that 10 earthquake-affected cities in southern Turkey have been declared disaster and a state of emergency has been imposed in these affected areas for 3 months, while 5 billion dollars have been allocated for relief works.

The Turkish president said that 45,000 shelters will be built on a war footing for displaced people, while earthquake victims are being considered for temporary accommodation in hotels in Anatolia.

He said that Turkey is currently going through the biggest tragedy in the world, more than 70 countries have offered aid and cooperation in relief operations.

Increase in deaths from earthquakes

The number of people killed due to the earthquake in Turkey and Syria is increasing and so far a total of 5151 people have died.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed the increase in the number of deaths due to the earthquake and said that 3549 people have died and 22 thousand 168 have been injured in the severe earthquake that occurred yesterday.

He said that 8 people have been rescued in the rescue operations.

According to the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (Efad), 6,217 buildings were destroyed in the affected areas.

Meanwhile, the death toll in the earthquake has reached 1602 in Syria and a total of 5151 people have died in both countries.
