Iran’s supreme leader pardoned thousands of prisoners, including those arrested in recent protests -HP NEWS

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei pardoned thousands of prisoners, including those arrested in recent protests in the country.

According to the Iranian media, the pardon for the prisoners was requested by the judiciary, among the prisoners to be pardoned are the protesters arrested in the recent protests.

According to media reports, those released do not include prisoners with dual citizenship, and the Supreme Leader did not pardon those accused of spying for foreign agencies and anti-Iranian groups.

According to the Human Rights Organization, 20,000 protesters were arrested in a crackdown against the recent protests in Iran.

Protests in Iran last year against the death in custody of Iranian girl Mehsa Amini continued for four months. 22-year-old Mehsa Amini was arrested in September last year for violating the hijab law.
