A university lecturer who protested on TV against the ban on women’s higher education in Afghanistan was arrested.
According to the news agency, Ismail Meshaal, a well-known journalism lecturer, tore up his degree and certificates on TV in December last year, protesting against the Taliban authorities’ decision to ban higher education for women.
Now the Taliban government has arrested the university lecturer and subjected him to torture. Afghan Ministry of Information and Culture Minister Abdul Haq Hammad confirmed the arrest of the lecturer in a statement and said that the lecturer had been busy spreading incitement for a long time, so the security agencies arrested him for investigation.
According to the report, recently Ismail Meshaal was seen offering books to citizens he met on the way in Kabul.
