According to Indian media, the bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandra heard the petitions filed against the government’s ban on the British Broadcasting Corporation’s documentary on the Gujarat riots.

The petitioner challenged the government’s move to ban the documentary, arguing that the government used emergency powers to ban the documentary and also removed it from social media. The central government did not publicly announce the ban on the documentary. .

The petitioner’s counsel said that banning the two parts of the documentary is an unconstitutional and malicious move.

On the arguments of the petitioner, the court sought an official order from the government to ban the documentary and issued a notice to the central government.

According to Indian media, on January 21, the Modi government blocked the British Broadcasting Corporation’s documentary on various platforms using emergency powers.
