Users on social media severely criticized Munir Akram’s statement and said that the ban on girls’ education is not Pashtun culture but Talabani culture.
It should be noted that Pakistan’s Permanent Representative Munir Akram, while giving a briefing on Afghanistan at the United Nations, stated that the Taliban government’s restrictions on women’s education are more related to Pashtun culture than to religion.
He said that in Pashtun culture it is important for women to stay at home and this cultural fact has not changed for hundreds of years.
