The Inter-University Sports Championship organized by Higher Education Commission (HEC) has started.
The Higher Education Commission is playing a significant role in the promotion of sports in the universities across the country, that is the reason why Pakistan has been receiving many talented sports players from the universities who go on to brighten the name of the country and the nation.
Provincial Minister Universities and Boards Ismail Raho expressed these views while addressing the opening ceremony of All Pakistan HEC Inter Universities Championship at Pakistan Sports Board Karachi Center.
On this occasion, Provincial Minister of Labor and Human Resources Saeed Ghani, Vice Chancellor of Karachi University Khalid Iraqi, Dr. Saeed Qureshi of Dow University, Vice Chancellor of Sindh Madrasatul Islam Dr. Mujeebuddin Sehrai, Director HEC Javed Ali Memon, Vice Chancellor of Sir Syed University. Chancellor Waliuddin, Registrar Javed Anwar, Hamdard University Vice Chancellor Shafiuddin, Chairman Newport Institute Board of Directors Major Huma Bukhari, Commodore Akbar Satara Imtiaz Military Naqi, Azhar Khan Commandant SSU and others were also present.
The highlight of the event was the participation of the vice chancellors of 50 major universities across the country and their representatives. At the beginning of the event, more than two and a half thousand male and female players of the teams participating in eight sports marched to the music of the police band.
Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani said that our government is working for the promotion of sports across Sindh, national sports hockey is also among our priorities, I feel very happy to come to this event, along with education, students It is nice to see them participating in sports and other healthy activities.
The vice chancellor of Karachi University, Khalid Iraqi, said that sports competitions burn the hidden talents of students, inter-university competitions are waited for by students all year.
Apart from this, Director HEC Javed Ali Memon said that after a long time, a joint opening ceremony of eight sports was organized by HEC and the universities of Karachi, on which Rashid Qureshi, Director of Sports of Karachi University and other host universities were present. I am also grateful to HEC, this is a great achievement for them as well.
Among the sports that were held in the opening ceremony were All-Pakistan Archery (Men), All-Pakistan Basketball (Men), All-Pakistan Chess (Men), All-Pakistan Netball (Men), All-Pakistan Archery (Women), All-Pakistan Football. (Women), All Pakistan Volleyball (Women) and All Pakistan Hockey (Women) championships.
