A lockdown has been imposed in North Korea’s capital Pyongyang after a rise in cases of a respiratory disease.
According to reports, authorities have issued a 5-day lockdown following the rapid spread of a respiratory disease in Pyongyang.
The orders did not mention Covid-19, but citizens were instructed to stay at home till Sunday and submit records by checking their body temperature several times a day.
According to media reports, citizens of Pyongyang started stockpiling goods on January 24 in anticipation of possible tougher measures.
It is not yet clear whether the lockdown has been implemented in other parts of North Korea.
It should be noted that the first wave of Covid-19 was admitted by North Korea in 2022, but victory against the virus was announced in August.
The North Korean government has never made it clear how many people have been exposed to Covid-19, only that the number of fever-stricken patients is reported daily.
