In the fifth match of HBL PSL 8, Multan Sultans defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 56 runs and won the first position on the points table of the event.
In the match played at Multan Stadium, Multan Sultans set a target of 211 runs for Peshawar Zalmi, but they were bowled out for 154 runs in 18.5 overs.
Saeem Ayub 53, Muhammad Haris 40 and Roman Powell were the prominent batsmen with 23 runs from Peshawar Zalmi.
For Multan Sultans, Ehsanullah and Usama Mir took 3, 3, while Abbas Afridi took 2 and Braithwaite 1 wicket.
Earlier, in the fifth match of Pakistan Super League (PSL), Peshawar Zalmi won the toss and invited Multan Sultans to bat.
Hosts Multan Sultans scored 210 runs for 3 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, Mohammad Rizwan and Riley Russo scored half-centuries during the innings.
Captain Mohammad Rizwan and Shaan Masood opened the innings and made a partnership of 54 runs for the first wicket.
Shaan Masood returned to the pavilion after scoring 20 runs, Multan’s second wicket fell for 116 by skipper Rizwan.
He played 66 runs off 42 balls, Mohammad Rizwan hit 1 six and 9 fours during the innings.
The third out was the batsman Riley Russo, who played a 36-ball 75, during which he hit 2 sixes and 12 fours.
David Miller of Multan Sultans scored 23 and Kieron Pollard played an unbeaten innings of 15 runs.
From Peshawar Zalmi, Salman Irshad got 2 wickets and Sufyan Moqim got 1 wicket while Wahab Riaz, Khurram Shahzad and James Neesham got no wickets.
Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan came to the field for the toss, on this occasion the captain of Peshawar Zalmi said that we have good bowlers, today’s pitch will help the bowlers.
Katpan of Multan Sultans added that the pitch is new, can’t predict it at the moment.
This is the third match of the event for Multan Sultans, who lost the first match against Lahore Qalandars by just one run while they won against Quetta Gladiators.
This is Peshawar Zalmi’s second match in the event under the leadership of Babar Azam, in the first match they defeated Karachi Kings by 2 runs after a great contest.
