Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam, who became the Cricketer of the Year, says that winning the Sir Garfield Sobers Award is an honor for him. The joy of winning cricket’s biggest award cannot be expressed in words as I was included in the list which includes the names of many legends and illustrious players.
In a statement, the captain of the Pakistan team, Babar Azam, said that Pakistan’s name has been brought to light by receiving the biggest award in cricket, for which he is extremely happy.
Babar said that the hard work behind this award was to perform throughout the year and maintain consistency on the same grounds against different teams in different conditions apart from the home ground.
The captain of the national team said that international cricket has become too much, when the Test series ends, white ball cricket starts immediately. Switching quickly improves the game and makes you mentally stronger.
Babar Azam said that one has to keep himself more fit after receiving an award, the motivation also increases and the confidence also increases and the determination to maintain this performance in the future is also created.
He said that he wants to thank the ICC for considering him worthy of this big award.
Babar Azam said that the list for this award included the names of big players like Ben Stokes, Sikandar Raza and Tim Southee.
The captain of the national team said, “I am happy Sir Garfield Sobers Award, there are many big names including Rahul Dravid and Virat Kohli, now my name will also be there, this happiness cannot be described.”
He said that he played many good innings throughout the year but his innings of 196 runs against Australia in the red ball and the century against England in the white ball is one of the best performances of the year that he remembers.
Babar said that the main reason for this is that he opened both the innings at the home ground in front of the home crowd.
Babar Azam said that he would give the credit of this award to his family, teammates and fans who supported him every moment.
