The Jordanian Air Force signed a multi-billion dollar contract to buy new F-16 aircraft from the United States.
Jordanian Air Force Commander Brigadier General Muhammad Hayast and US Mission Deputy Chief Rohit Nepal signed the agreement in Amman.
According to the Jordanian news agency, the Air Force said in a statement that the agreement is part of defense capability enhancement, war preparation and joint operations with the United States.
The Air Force of the Arab country added that through the agreement, the cooperation between the two countries will be strengthened and work will be done to prevent terrorism and promote peace in the region.
In February 2022, the US State Department approved the sale of 16 F-16 fighter jets to Jordan, estimated at $4.21 billion.
The Jordanian Air Force has 44 F-16 aircraft, instead of upgrading these aircraft, the Air Force is buying 16 new variant aircraft from the United States.
